Roster of 600, new members must be sponsored by current member. Annual dues, $75. Trap range open to public 9am Sundays, 5pm Tuesdays.

Camanche Hills Hunting Preserve 2951 Curran Rd., Ione, (209) 763-5270,, established 1968. Shotguns and archery only. Billed as largest sporting clays facility in California, on 1,500 acres owned by East Bay Municipal Utilities District. Membership roster of 600. Annual dues, $200. Clay target range open to public 8am-4pm daily (except seasonal Mon.-Tues. closures). Hunting packages available for pheasant, chukar, quail, ducks and geese.

Mariposa Fish & Game Protective Association’s Range 4443 Old Highway Rd., Mariposa, (209) 617-9928, Roster of 87. Annual dues, $30; members eligible to purchase annual range pass, $75. Open to the public at 9am on the first, third and last Saturdays monthly; other classes, matches and events open to the public; site of Mariposa Pistol Club’s (805-440-7489, annual dues $30) handgun and rifle matches, also open to the public.

Mother Lode Gun Club 19185 Jamestown Rd., Jamestown, (209) 984-4160,, established 1939. High-power, action pistol, black powder, cowboy, junior .22, archery and hunter safety are offered. Club is at capacity with 850 members (waiting list to join). Annual dues, $150. Trap range open to public at 9am Saturdays and 5pm Wednesdays. All club-sponsored shooting events open to public, check online calendar for dates and times.

Oakdale Sportsmen’s Club 840 N. Stearns Rd., Oakdale, (209) 262-7643,, established 1944. Roster of 700 (waiting list to join), open to men age 21-plus, must be sponsored by current member. Annual dues, $84. Club holds public matches.

Sacramento Valley Shooting Center 15501 Meiss Rd., Sloughhouse, (916) 354-9668,, established at current site in 1991. Operated by Folsom Shooting Club on 860 acres with 100 firing positions just west of Amador County line. About 3,000 members. Annual dues, $125 ($65 for 60 and older). Shotgun ranges open to public on weekends, rifle ranges open to public Fridays-Tuesdays.

True Sportsman Club 8250 True Sportsman Dr., Ione, Club has reached capacity with 275 (waiting list temporarily suspended). Annual dues, $50. Club holds public matches, programs and clinics.
