SONORA
Tuolumne County Senior Center, 540 Greenley Road
Operated by Sierra Senior Providers, partially funded by Area 12 Agency on Aging. Open 8am-4pm Monday–Friday. About 40 seniors eat lunch here daily; suggested donation $3.50 (60 and over, $5 if under 60) . The center hosts a variety of classes and social events, including exercise classes and card games, live entertainment and dancing. Serves as a focal point for essential senior services, including health monitoring and legal aid, to name a few. Meals on Wheels, based at the center, delivers balanced meals to seniors 60 and older who cannot drive, shop or cook for themselves. Call for details about La Grange area meal program. Senior Lounge and Boutique, City of Sonora Fire Museum, 125 N. Washington St.
Open 9am-3pm Tuesday-Friday. Volunteer-staffed drop-in center hosts a variety of activities including games and cards. Free bingo, 1-2:30pm the third Tuesday of each month (Sept. through May) and live music 10am-3pm Fridays. Seniors may place handmade items on consignment, and may donate clothes and knickknacks; proceeds support the lounge. Bonus: Step back in time with a tour of the fire equipment and memorabilia. SUGAR PINE
Upcountry Senior Center, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 21476 Pine Lake Drive; meal site for Sierra Senior Providers. Open 10:30am-1pm each Tuesday and Thursday; free exercise classes both days, followed by noon lunch; suggested donation $3.50 (60 and over, $5 if under 60) per meal. TUOLUMNE
Tuolumne County Recreation Department’s Free Senior Program for ages 50-plus, Tuolumne Youth Center, 18636 Main St., Tuolumne. Hours, 9am-noon Mondays only. Activities include arts and crafts, games, pool and table tennis, computer use, guest speakers and more. Cassie Williams, 928-4527, 533-5663.
GROVELAND
The Little House, 11699 Merrell Road and Highway 120, Groveland; operated by Southside Senior Services, Inc.; senior meal site for Sierra Senior Providers.
